Improving the noise performance of Electric Vehicles (EVs) is essential. Designers and engineers typically use CAE tools such as Multi-Body Dynamics (MBD), Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and Multi-Domain Simulation tools to develop quieter products.
The overall objective is to simulate the dynamics of systems to identify and solve noise problems in simulation, ahead of prototyping and manufacturing. In effect design decisions can be made to avoid noise issues earlier, rather than later after they have occurred; helping you to work smarter and faster at reduced costs.
RomaxDESIGNER is a leading CAE software product which offers a whole-system approach for design and analysis of NVH, efficiency and durability.
The latest development of RomaxDESIGNER R17 sees the release of a new Electrical Machine modeller, including a vibration analysis tool that interfaces directly with electromagnetic FEA.
This new software capability enables vibration analysis of a complete electro-mechanical drivetrain. It applies excitations from both gears (transmission error) and electrical machine (torque ripple, radial forces) and calculates the response of a full system model; including transmission, electrical machine and housing. Users are able to capture electro-mechanical dynamic interactions in the early development stages and prevent problems from the start, therefore targeting a Right First Time™ solution.
- Automate the creation and meshing of the electrical machine stator
- Unique analysis of electro-mechanical system interactions:
o Capturing the interaction between electric motor and gear system
o Fast and flexible frequency domain solution
o Advanced post-processing analysis tools
- Integration with 3rd party electro-mechanical analysis software:
- Considers different types of excitation – torque ripple, imbalance and radial force shapes
